We all know that shampoos aren't made equally, but did you know that your dry hair and scalp could be from your shampoo and shampoo bars?
Shampoo and shampoo bars are made from surfactants which are compounds that lower the surface tension between a liquid and a solid. There are many different types of these lathering detergents and a lot of them can be very drying and harsh on the hair and scalp. If you have ezcema, psoriasis, or dry hair and scalp, look to your shampoo first!
I've previously struggled with psoriasis on my scalp, which was always irritated by shampoos and shampoo bars. It wasn't I tried a shampoo bar made with SCI that I realized that many of the surfactants aren't great for problematic and sensitive skin. Changing to a SCI shampoo bar made a huge difference in the health of my hair and scalp, I no longer struggle with psoriasis, the flakes are gone, and my hair is less dry.
What is SCI? Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is a sodium salt ester, or a fatty acid derived from coconut oil. It is used in shampoos and shampoos bars as a because of its ability to help water to mix with oil and dirt, allowing them to be more easily rinsed away. SCI is often referred to as Baby Foam because it is an extremely gentle surfactant that is mild enough for baby cleansers while still being a very efficient cleanser.
All of our shampoo bars are made with SCI, they don't over strip the hair but still pack a powerful clean.
All of our shampoo bars are made in Calgary, Alberta.
